Sergio Perez began playing travel soccer in Reston Virginia before having the opportunity to live in Chile, Venezuela, and Costa Rica, where soccer became a central part of his life. From ages 16 to 18, he competed at the academy level in Costa Rica and traveled internationally to represent his club in high-level tournaments against established academies from across Central America. Competing in those demanding environments exposed him to different playing styles, elevated expectations, and the intensity of international competition, all of which helped shape his competitive mindset, resilience, and deep understanding of the game.

Sergio is an engaging, personable, yet demanding coach who believes players respond best when high standards are paired with strong relationships, encouragement, and enjoyment. He is committed to building confidence, creating a fun and positive environment, and providing consistent support while placing player development above all else. With previous recreational coaching experience, Sergio joined Virginia Revolution to bring his competitive playing background, high standards, and coaching style into an environment that reflects how he believes the game should be played. Since joining the club, he has been heavily involved in its summer programming, coaching striker and goalkeeper sessions, playmaker sessions, player development sessions, and youth soccer camps. He holds a US Soccer Grassroots Coaching License, along with 4v4, 7v7, 9v9, and 11v11 licenses, and is pursuing his US Soccer D License.
